CareWorks names new President for MCO unit

(DUBLIN, OH) -- The CareWorks Family of Companies is pleased to announce the promotion of Richard J. Poach to President and Chief Operating Officer of CareWorks' MCO business unit. Mr. Poach has held the position of Chief Operating Officer of CareWorks of Ohio since 1997.
Poach has an extensive management background in both government and private sector business. He served four years as an officer in the U.S. Army where he earned the Army Commendation Medal for his exceptional performance in managing international logistics operations.
In 1988, Poach joined Nationwide Insurance where he was quickly promoted through a number of field and home office management assignments in the areas of finance, administration, systems, and marketing. Poach led the development and implementation of several multi-million dollar information systems during his tenure at Nationwide.
In 1995, Poach moved to GatesMcDonald, a leading national third party administrator and Nationwide Insurance subsidiary. As Director of Managed Care Services, Poach created a 24-hour call center to provide toll-free service to GatesMcDonald’s national clients. More significantly though, Poach led the development of a new managed care subsidiary company, GatesMcDonald Health Plus Inc., which quickly established itself as Ohio’s second largest managed care organization (MCO).
Poach received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Norwich University in Vermont and Master’s Degree in Computer Systems Management from Webster University in Missouri.
